First ANKOSLink International Conference Workshop: FAIR Planning: Introduction to Research Data Management and Data Management Plans
This year, the ANKOSLink 2024 International Conference, hosted by Antalya Belek University from November 18-21, 2024, brought together prominent figures from the scientific community under the theme “Generative AI and Academic Libraries.” With around 500 participants and more than 60 companies involved, this event comprehensively addressed topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in libraries, open access practices, and next-generation information technologies.
Certified Training Workshop
As part of ANKOSLink 2024, two pre-meeting workshops were organized for the first time this year. One of these workshops is the EU-certified “FAIR Planning: Introduction to Research Data Management and Data Management Plans,” organized by IZTECH Library. A total of 45 participants from 37 different institutions attended this workshop.
The training materials prepared within the framework of the PATTERN Project, in which IZTECH Library is a partner, were presented by OpenAIRE Research Data Management working group members Gültekin Gürdal and Begüm YAVUZ. Gültekin Gürdal conveyed the importance of data management for researchers within the framework of FAIR principles. Begüm YAVUZ provided information about data management plans and explained what should be included in a good data management plan. Thanks to group activities conducted during the workshop, participants had opportunities to reinforce their knowledge through practical applications.

Participant Satisfaction
The survey results conducted at the end of the training were quite pleasing: The vast majority of participants indicated that they found the training materials current, clear, and understandable; 90% expressed that the training was well-structured and had opportunities for active participation. Another positive outcome of the study was that participants reported an increased interest in the subject after the training and indicated a need for more advanced education in research data management.
In conclusion, the ANKOSLink International Conference holds great significance in terms of professional development, collaboration, and keeping up with innovations. The Research Data Management workshop held at the conference also served as an event where innovations in data management were shared, supporting professional development.
